8:00 a.m. Pick up Ledyard High Students @ LHS (by Ledyard bus)

Pick up Fitch High Students by Groton STA bus

8:30 a.m. Cutler Middle School

8:35 a.m. Icebreaker

·      Name games

·      Group challenge

·      Ivy Williams “what we have in common” questions

·      Develop icebreaker for use in middle school classroom

9:00 a.m. Organize the MTW students into 8 groups to prepare for sessions with 8 sixth grade classes.

Read and highlight Manny McMoose and His Chubby Caboose, noting with yellow sticky notes places to stop for emphasis and clarification.

Agree on end-of-book message

 and discussion of bullying with strategies to confront bullying in non-violent ways

10:00 a.m. Small group work:  develop structure for middle school workshops

11:00 a.m. Lunch

11.20 a.m. Workshop sessions with the 8 seixth grade classes

1:00 p.m. Students depart

1:15 p.m. Ledyard bus will drop off at students at Ledyard High School and continue to New London High; Fitch bus will drop off students at FHS

Next Workshop May 23

Our next workshop will be on Friday, May 23 at Cutler Middle School. We'll read Manny McMoouse and His Chubby Caboose to students. There will be a planning meeting in the LHS Career Center at 2:30 on May 7.

12 noon Planning in small  groups for the middle school diversity program to be presented at Cutler, Bennie Dover Jackson or Ledyard Middle School.

9:10 a.m.              Character Blocks:  in 5 small groups, students use building blocks to prioritize traits.  Report out to whole group.

9:30 a.m.              Prep for Harriet Tubman performance

10:00 a.m.           Harriet Tubman performance

11:00 a.m.           Follow-up discussion re: Tubman performance

11:30 a.m.           Lunch
