Set Anchor for First Night in Montauk

We sailed across to Montauk, NY and anchored in Fort Pond Bay. It is so beautiful here! The students were in training all day. On the way over from CT, they learned about man over board, fire and abandon ship procedures, as well as how to get around the guts of the boat down below. After anchoring, they did their first climbing exercise and learned how to handle, lash, and stow lines. A few of them are up on the yard right now, furling the sail. There will be a whole other round of activities after dinner and then the two-hour night watches begin!

And We Are Off

We just departed City Pier in New London. Three sails are set (which the kids did already!) as we head out the Thames River. Students are getting briefed right now about how the routines will work. Stay tuned.

Oliver Hazard Perry Trip - Take Three

Hope your summer is going well. We have been working hard to secure funding for another fall OHP trip, just like last year, and we succeeded! It will be a similar four day trip (Sun-Wed) September 10-13. Fitch, NL & Ledyard will have the whole boat again. We'll leave from NL, go to Block and finish in Newport, just like last year. There are limited slots, so contact your advisor ASAP.

"Make America Love Again"

A big thank you to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation for hosting our workshop today. After our signature opening of crazy icebreaker activities, we settled into an intense day of discussion and debate. We learned about our differences and discussed the many divisive issues facing America today. We did so in a respectful and thoughtful environment. Despite our differences, we all agreed that it is time to "make America love again."
